FAITH IN ACTION IS COMING!
St. Anne's is participating in the City-wide outreach to people. We are currently planning the types of outreach projects that we want to do as we join dozzens of churches from around the greater Fort Worth area doing their own outreach projects. This outreach is simply to show the love and care of Jesus to people in the community on the weekend of October 23-24.
Faith in Action (FIA is a day set aside for churches to provide service to their local community. Based in Christ's teachings, "it is more blessed to give than to receive," (AC 20:35) this day os service demonstrates Christian caring for the un-churched population in the area. This year's Faith in Action day is scheduled for October 24, 2010. On this day, metroplex churches will complete service projects throught our communities for the betterment of others.
Outreach is very important to us here at St. Anne's.
Jesus calls us to reach out to those in need and we seek to do that through the monetary support of some local, national, and international ministries.
We also seek to get involved in various "hands on" outreach programs. Our most active is the AngelFood Ministry.
We currently are supporting the following ministries:
1. La Gran Familia - Mexico
2. Safe Haven Women's shelter of Tarrant County (Fort Worth)
3. The Northside Interchurch Agency - Fort Worth
4. The Diocese of Northern Malawi - Africa
5. The Azle Good Neighbor Project
6. Community Link Mission Food Bank- Saginaw, TX
7. Effie Morris Elementary School Teacher supplies. - Fort Worth
CHRISTMAS KIDS 2009
This year at St. Anne’s we will again be hosting the Christmas Kids Project to assist in providing gifts for children in the Lake Worth ISD who will not otherwise receive gifts on this celebration of our Lord’s birth. For a variety of reasons, we will not have as many children’s names available for “adoption” as in previous years. If this has become a family tradition for you, please pick up your names from the tree ASAP, as we are not assured of getting more names once the original ones are ”adopted”. The tree with gift tags will be placed in the Parish Hall the weekend before Thanksgiving. (November 21st) Next to the tree will be a “Sign-out” sheet. Please sign out any names you take from the tree. All gifts need to be purchased, wrapped, labeled with the child’s name and family number and returned to the church by December 13th for family pick-up the following week. Please bring the wrapped and labeled gifts to the church anytime between November 21st and December 13th. For anyone wishing to participate in giving during this special time of the year, but is unable to “adopt” a child, there will be other options available. If all Christmas Kids are gone from the tree, please contact Marsha or Merry for additional information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!! Contact information: Marsha Lindenmeier 817-367-0833 or Merry Frey 817-236-8527 Thank you and God Bless each of you who are participating in this project.
Our hands on outreach projects include: Christmas Angel Tree, Heart Pillows for cancer patients, School Supplies for needy children, Supplying soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan, Reading program at Effie Morris Elementary School.
We also have worked with the Northwest Tarrant County Minsterial Alliance on their Open Arms Women's Shelter clean-up day.
